"As an artist, I want to create a piece of artwork that is bold enough to catch a person’s eye from a distance. I want that person to wonder what they are looking at and their curiosity to call them closer to the work. When they step closer they will find another layer of visual candy.

Colors and textures are the core of my artwork. They make the magic happen!

I love playing with color. It is never static. I spend hours rehearsing a variety of hues. A single piece of fabric appears to change as you put it next to other colors. A piece of work can go from soft and quiet to loud and bold: a plain piece can become vibrant just by changing a single color, or changing the value from a lighter to a darker hue. Color is both challenging and exciting. “Mother Nature” is my greatest teacher.

Texture is also a must in my artwork, even if it is an optical illusion. Being very kinesthetic, I love touching things with my hands and eyes. Texture adds to the color and creates surprises in the piece. A simple line of thread or layers of thread define new spaces within the piece. A single bead can guide the eyes to look in a new place.

Creating with fiber is my greatest play in life. Each creation dances; it has its own rhythm and makes its own music, leading me on to the next piece."
